It is lovely to read your note. I am pleased that my support is helping you stay in school.

What is your favorite subject? Do you have a career goal? While at Kenya Connect, did you borrow any books to read? Reading is one of the most important things you can do to improve your grades in all subjects. I love to read and I read every day. It always brings me to new places and I love enjoying a story.

I just visited Washington, DC, the United State's capital, for a wedding. It is a beautiful city with many beautiful buildings. The wedding was at the top a sky scraper so we could look down and see all the buildings and the Potomac river.

The season of spring is upon us in the U.S. Our trees are starting to leaf after the cold of winter and our flowers are blooming. It's really pretty.

Keep working hard in school and read as much as you can.

Today, October 20, 2025, I was able to make the final payment for your 2026 tuition, so as I understand it, you will be able to graduate next year. I read that you have been enjoying art and got to show some of your work in the school show. Congratulations! Yesterday I played a concert with four piano concertos performed by four pianists who were not full time professional concert pianists but people who loved playing, were good enough to be professional pianists but chose instead to find jobs in the business world to make money. They continued to be active musicians. I think sometimes doing any of the arts seems impractical. You love art but people are skeptical or even laugh if you want to become a professional. This is nonsense. Continue to love making art and it does not need to be a livelihood. But doing it because you love it is terribly important. It keeps us human.

Hey Melissa,
I'm soo glad that you replied back .
I am also on Instagram but I don't usually visit my account.I love Tik Tok soo much because it is a pool of fun and comedy.
I will be home for two months only.There has been a nationwide strike conducted and organised by lecturers all over the country ,so many students are not able to access classes.The lecturers aren't willing to go back for teaching unless the government pays them a debt of 7.9 billion which the government promised them and never paid them and now they are demanding it .There has been a Cholera outbreak in some parts of the country which has fataly killed about 45 citizens and others are still in hospitals getting treatment.
I'm very happy to have a good friend like you who always checks on me from abroad.
When you go to any school around your place greet all the students and tell them I love them soo much .Maybe one day I'll be teaching in USA and meet some of them.
I also send warm greetings to your family through you.Greet your brother and tell him I'm also a teacher and love doing some math.

I would also like to teach you a Swahili greeting called "Jambo" - you can use it in the place of hello.Hope you will get to know it soon.

MY JOURNEY IN ARCHITECTURE

Hello Friends 👋 ,

I often say that architecture chose me long before I admitted it. As a child, I had dreamed fiercely of medicine-wearing the white coat, saving lives, and carrying the noble responsibility of healing. That dream guided me for years, and to the outside world, it remained intact. But in truth, something shifted in me while I was in Form 2.

It was then that I first encountered design not just as drawing or art, but as a language of possibility. I began to notice buildings, spaces, and the way people interacted with them. I realized that just as medicine heals the body, architecture can heal the mind and spirit. This realization struck me powerfully, but quietly-I never told anyone. Outwardly, I was still the boy who wanted to be a doctor. Inwardly, however, I had already begun to dream of becoming an architect.

Entering University

When I finally joined university, I carried this secret passion with me, and stepping into the world of architecture felt like setting down a burden I had carried in silence for years. For the first time, I could openly pursue what I had always felt deep inside.

The studios, the sketches, the models-all of it awakened me. Architecture was no longer an abstract dream; it was a living journey. I was learning to think with both discipline and imagination, to see the built environment as something alive.

Discovering Myself in Design

Each semester shaped me in new ways. From the struggle of my first design projects to the pride of creating models that captured ideas, I began to grow not only as a student but as a person. I realized that design was not about drawing pretty buildings—it was about problem-solving, empathy, and vision. My passion grew fierce, sharper than my childhood desire for medicine, because it was authentic to who I had become.

Challenges Along the Way

There were moments of doubt, long nights in studio, and critiques that stung. But architecture taught me resilience. It demanded patience, sacrifice, and humility. Slowly, I came to see these struggles not as obstacles, but as the very process of becoming.

My Calling

Looking back, I no longer regret letting go of medicine. That dream belonged to a younger version of me, but what stayed constant was the desire to serve humanity. Today, I wear no white coat, but I carry sketches, plans, and models that breathe life into spaces. Architecture has become my way of healing—healing communities through design, creating spaces that inspire, protect, and endure.

This is not just a career path; it is my calling. From the quiet moment in Form 2 when I first dared to dream differently, to the long hours in university studios, I have been on a journey of self-discovery, passion, and purpose. And this journey continues—fierce, relentless, and full of possibility.

Hello Donors,
I am doing well and I hope that you are doing well too. Academic life at school was nice and generally, life at school was really nice. We have covered the last half of the term and it was nice. On the closing day, the school held the annual prize giving day for the awarding of the last year`s KCSE candidates who had performed very well in their exam.
In the beginning of this August holiday, we went for a Geography trip to the Rift valley. We had great fun during the trip and we really learned a lot. The activities that we did during the trip were really fun though some of them such as hiking on mountains were tiresome. That was the best trip that I have ever had and I will really long for it.
Right now, summer has began and the cold season of July is over. We closed school on 31st July and we will be going back to school on 26th August.

Its my great pleasure to write back to you. I am doing well and I hope that you are doing well too. We are now back home for the August holiday. The last half of the term was nice and generally,life at school was nice. I did not participate in the STEM competitions or the drama club because I am not a member of the of the two but of the Wildlife club. The book that you are reading seems to be really interesting. I also like reading books for pleasure so as to avoid getting bored.
I promise that I will be borrowing a book from the Kenya Connect library and read it every day during this holiday.
The career fair was scheduled to happen today at Kenya connect and so far we have learnt about the different careers, the subjects needed for the different careers and that your destiny is not determined by your background. I am really inspired by the speakers and I am grateful to Kenya Connect for organising this.

I am back from school for a holiday of 3 weeks after terminating the second term of 2025 school calendar.
I am quite grateful for your endured support all through my high school journey. Since the beginning of this year you have supported me and I`m really thankful for that.
The second term was a success to our school. We took part in different activities both in curricular and co-curricular and the results of both performances were good. In games we competed to the Regionals in both soccer and basketball and we are grateful for that. In studies I am really trying my best to improve since it is my main hope in the future. Through organic chemistry, we learn that plastic bags are made from polyethylene, a process known as polymerisation. We know that plastic bags are non-biodegradable thus causing pollution to the environment.

This pollution to the surrounding has a lot of effects to the living things. Plastic waste was allover and that is why Our government went ahead and banned the use of plastic bags in Kenya. Through this, our country now looks clean and conducive for someone to live.

Hello Emmaculate! It sounds like you've had a strong school year and it seems like your school has some exciting activities. Did you participate in the STEM competitions or the drama club?

Reading is essential to future success in all careers. Are you reading books for pleasure? I read every night. Right now I'm reading a book about a woman who owns a sheep farm in Vermont. It's really interesting and I'm learning how hard it is. She helps when they sheep give birth, in sheering their wool and overall management of the flock. It's something I knew very little about so I am learning a lot. I also like reading books that weave history with a story or a book with a mystery in it. Studies show that students who read for pleasure do better on exams and improve on critical thinking and creativity. During this break I encourage you to borrow a book from the Kenya Connect library and READ every day!

Are you going to the Kenya Connect Career Fair? I hope it's worthwhile.

It's summer in Maryland where I live. It's been very hot here. This weekend it got cooler which has been nice. Yesterday, I weeded my gardens and did some house cleaning.

It was good to hear from you. It sounds like you had a strong term. I am very pleased to hear that you are reading. Reading for pleasure is essential to long term success and it opens your minds to so many new things. Right now I'm reading about a woman who raises sheep on a farm in Vermont in the U.S. I'm learning so much about how hard it is to run a successful sheep farm and how they sheer the sheep and care for them. It's something I knew very little about and the book opened up a new world to me. I read every day for fun on top of the reading I do for work.

Are you going to the Kenya Connect career fair? I think it will be helpful to show career opportunities.

Over the holiday I visited library and I revised my notes and read few novels, including beyond the shadow and soldiers wife
In school everything was good although temperatures were very cold.I Also participated in rugby for fun .

I am doing well and I hope that you are doing well too. It`s my great pleasure to write this journal to inform you that we are now back home for a short break from school. Life at school is nice and studies are going on well. The year began well and I am very happy because I proceeded to form three. Being a student of a senior class is very nice because of the respect you usually get from the rest of the students despite it having too much work load since studies have upgraded.
In the first term of the year, our school participated in different activities in which it was competing with other schools. In the Science and technology competitions,our school emerged as the winner and proceeded to the national level. We were very happy as a school because we received many awards of trophies. Our drama club did their best but luck was not on their side since they did not proceed to the national level. We have great hope of that they will do well in the next competitions. Hello. This last term has been quite difficult. We had to do a lot of special activities, and then catch up on normal classes at the last moment. On the other hand, I finished the term with good marks. I try hard with each project, so I can reach the level the teachers think I should.
In my school we've been doing extra things such as planting trees in green spaces and participating in a competition about how to stop bullying. We had a university fair, too where I learnt about interesting courses.
We've also been taking part in the tests for INEVAL [a national system of tests to assess learning and teaching standards in Ecuador].
Little by little I'm preparing for the next stage of my life.

This is my final year at secondary school. I will soon finish a stage in my life which has been full of events, definitely more good ones than bad ones. They've taught me to be more disciplined. Recently the teachers have begun to prepare us for the next stage in life, choosing what to do next. Hi Christine, thank you for your update. Well done! I was very interested that in Kenya the use of plastic bags is prohibited. A great idea. Saves seeing the multitude of plastic in the bushes and on roadside. I wonder why other countries have not done that, especially those that pride themselves on environment. My name is Nohemí Tintaya Maza, and I am a Tourist Guide student at the CENFOTUR Institute in Cusco. I am very pleased to share with you that I have completed my sixth semester. This achievement is a very important step in my academic journey, and I feel very excited because my graduation is getting closer. All of this has been possible thanks to the constant support of the Mosqoy program, which has given me the opportunity to study and grow.
Currently, in addition to my studies, I am taking a Portuguese course, which will allow me to expand my knowledge and improve my language skills, something very valuable in my career. Hi donors, I hope that you are very fine.It is indeed very long since I last wrote to you.I am very fine working towards my goal.The term has been very short, so I had to equip myself very well.I really appreciate for funding my education over time. I am very glad to read the nice reply note that you wrote. The cultural day and the talent show were very wonderful. In the event I participated in a traditional dance together with my classmates where we sang a traditional song titled `GALAMASHAKA` a Giriama song. My favourite act that I watched during the event was modern dances. I really enjoyed it since listening to modern songs keep me entertained especially when I am bored.
When we came home from school, the weather was sunny and everywhere was dry and also the rivers had gone dry. It looked bad because I like an environment which is green. But for now, the long rains have began and I am glad that the environment will now regain its beauty of being green.

My experience in the first year of high school was rather difficult, mainly because I changed from primary to secondary school - the way the teachers and the school work were different and seemed strange to me at first. I gradually got to know the teachers though and learnt how the school works academically, so by the end of the year everything was much better.

It was wonderful to hear about the end of year cultural day and talent show. It sounded wonderful! Did you do an act in the show? What was your favorite act to watch?

I was at Kenya Connect earlier this month. It's always good to see the Kenya Connect staff and visit with the children at partner schools. I even ran in the Running to Read festival. I was slow, but it was fun!

I hope you check out books from the Kenya Connect library during the school break. Reading will help you in school. I read every day for fun and I learn about people who live in different parts of the world than me or people who have different challenges. One book I recently read was about women in Japan who dive for abalone, a kind of shellfish that is food. It was fascinating to see how deep in the ocean they could go. I also liked reading Michelle Obama's books.

I am glad you had such a good school year. Have a wonderful break and keep reading!

In school everything thing was good though it had few challenges.
The climate in school was very cold and the sun would shine for few hours.
We used to wake up very early unlike the other terms because were preparing for a joint exam which is done by all schools in Kitui county.
Teachers on their side were very strict with rules.They would come to class very early in the morning so as to make sure that we have finished the syllabus.

We closed our schools on 2/8/2024 but I was left at school together with my fellow school choir members for the National Music Festivals which were held at Moi Girl's School,Eldoret . we came back on date 11/8/2024 then we were released to go home the following day.
The festivals were really challenging but we tried our level best,
Unfortunately we were challenged by few schools so we did not manage to go to the next level but all the same we thank God for the chance.
I really enjoyed the long journey and also meeting other students,
I am working smart on my studies.
My goal this holiday is to help my guardians on their daily chores and also revise for the opening exam.

We had closed school for our end term two holiday.
Am writing this letter to appreciate your concern in my education.
In school we had beehive of activities including games.We had
ballgames going on well but our football team ended up to sub county level where they lost at finals in penalties.
We had done well in our academics.We had participated in both external and internal contest.We did our end term exam which I had passed with flying colours.I was not only congratulated but also I was
awarded.
The school life was not so hard.I enjoyed it because I kept myself from any trouble.The food that we ate was well cooked and delicious.
The challenging thing is that the school is located where the climate

Thank you too for the interesting note that you wrote. I have really enjoyed reading it and I am also happy to learn from you.
Our school holds a career day every year. During the career day, different professions usually group themselves in different areas where each student goes to the career that she wants to learn about. My hopes are to explore at least four or more than four different careers for the four years that I`ll be schooling. During the last year`s career day, I went to the Medicine field and learned a lot about it.
This year, I went to the field of law. I really enjoyed it. We had several lawyers who made the moment of interaction with them be full of fun.
I have been reading school books since the studies at school have been really keeping me busy, but I am looking forward to borrow a novel from the Kenya connect library so that I can keep myself busy with it when I am free.
It seems you really like farming. At our place, what is at the farm is peas. They are a type of legumes which are green when wet and brown when dry. I really like them when wet because they are very sweet. As for now, they are nearly becoming dry but I think they won`t dry up before the holiday is over.
It`s nice to learn that you like stories. I also like them because they keep me entertained and make me learn a lot of new things.

We actually had many activities at school including co-curricular activities . We participated in music festivals with other schools and emerged to be the best up to regional level where we were defeated but we never gave up. We are trying our best to participate come next year.

Hello donors?How are you doing? I am doing well so far. When I joined secondary school, school fees was a problem. My parents could not afford to pay my school fees because they depend on casual jobs to sustain our family. What they get is actually not enough to cater for all our basic needs and so school fees felt like a huge burden for them. Every time I was being sent home for school which negatively affected my performance. It got to a place where I stayed home for almost a year because my parents had not paid even a single cent.
My gratitude goes out to you all for clearing my fee balances and funding my school fees. I am able to focus very well in my studies because I am not sent home for fees. Hello donors, How are you going on?I hope that you are fine.I am also fine and very happy to inform that I joined a national secondary school and it is one of the best and highly performing schools in our country. It is a dream come true for me because I have always wanted to join a national school. The distance from home to our school is very long. It actually takes me close to 10 hours to get to the school.
We have come home for a holiday break. The term has been a beehive of activities including games,exams and educational trips. The climate at school is not that much favorable. The school is situated in a high land and this makes the weather to be very cold. Another unique thing about the area where my school is located is that it rains almost daily and hence the main crop grown is tea and the county is the biggest producer of tea in Kenya.Our school is. I have known how to plant some crops such because I take Agriculture.
I will be going back to school at the end of this month for my third term. I have improved in my grades and I promise to improve more.

How are you? I am very fine and I hope you are too. It is my first time to write to you and I am very excited about it. I joined a very good secondary school which is helping me to achieve my goals. Teachers in my new school are very friendly and they teach us very well to understanding.
Life was not easy for the first weeks because I did not have friends in the new school and I was also not familiar with the new environment. I would actually get lost almost every time I went for bathroom breaks, but as weeks went by, I got used to the new environment and I mastered my class and my dorm.
I take 12 subjects unlike in primary school where I took 6 subjects. They are not hard except for Computer studies which I find it a bit challenging because I had never learnt about it until I joined secondary school. My best subject is history because it helps me appreciate the changes we have had in our culture as well as living standards.
we wake up at 4:00 am for our morning preps which is earlier than the time I used to wake up when I was in primary school. I have adapted to this wake up time.
I have improved in my academics and I am still working hard to achieve more.

Thank you for your lovely note. It's sounds like you had a busy term! At career day, was there a career that excited you? Have you been reading any books?

It's been very hot and humid in Maryland where I live. We are hoping for rain soon for our gardens and for farms in the area. Yesterday I went to a farm and picked two big boxes of peaches. They are a stone fruit that are sweet like mangoes. This weekend I will "can" them which means I'll cook them a little and put them in jars so I can have them in the winter when there are no peaches (attached is a pic of the peaches.)

I have been watching some of the summer Olympics. It's just amazing to see the athletes perform. I'm so impressed by their determination and dedication.

I love to read and right now I'm reading a book about a young girl in England who likes to create plays. She lives along the coast and had found a washed up whale. Once the whale decomposed, she used the bones for a back drop of her stage. It's quite interesting and transports me to a whole new place. When I'm reading I form all these images in my head like I'm there in the book.

Keep working hard in school and read as many books as you can during the school break!

I am very well and I hope that you are well too.
Its my great pleasure to write a journal to you again inform you that
we are now home for a short holiday break after covering the second part of term-two.
The term was a nice one despite it being a busy and a long term. The studies are going on well and also our teachers are taking us through the syllabus well. During the second half of the term, our school held the annual career day. Different professions came,we explored different careers and learned a lot from them.
As we were in school, some parts of the country experienced earthquake. Our county was one of them. It occurred at night as we were in our classes for the night preps. The school was out of order as everyone ran out of the classes because at first we were not aware of that it was an earthquake since the class buildings were really shaking making us think that they were about to fall. It was after a few seconds when the earthquake was over and we realised what it was.
In terms of the weather, the cold season is nearly coming to an end for summer to begin.The break is from 1st August till 27th of the same month.
Finally, I would like to extend my gratitude to you for your continued support of contributing towards my school fees payment.

Its my hope that you are doing well and good.
On my side, I am fine and well. We have broke for
term two holiday and I thank the almighty for taking us
through the term. The term has been so busy and I am so glad to
inform you that we were able to catch up with time, after the
heavy floods that interfered with our studies here in Kenya.
Of course, our school chief principal had to change the
school timetable so as to cover the time lost during the
disaster. Therefore, the students had to put themselves in
her shoes.
This term, we also participated in games and
we managed to proceed up to county level.The music club also
won a trophy and they are now proceeding to the national level.
This term, the weather has not been so favourable to all and a number of students have just found them selves very sick with pneumonia and colds.
A few weeks ago, we experienced a mild earthquake in our area but
I thank the lord for keeping us save. During this holiday,I am going to spent much of my time studying as the adage states,if you want to go to the moon, aim at the sun.

Hi friends? how have you been ? I am very fine and I hope you are too. Students in my school are working hard and striving to achieve their goals .The school has a conducive environment for teaching and learning.The teachers are friendly and teach to understanding . My best teacher is madam Caroline. she is always happy and famous for her sense of humour and interesting teaching .I have found the subjects in Secondary school more interesting.My best subjects are Maths Geography and Agriculture . The school is well built and has a lot of infrastructures .we are known to be the bright students and hence nicknamed the blue stars.We are not only good in studies but also games . i participated in walking race but i did not win .I hope i will win next time .The school had few challenges such as lack of water which has quite improved.There was also two cases of tuberculosis but we thank God because the girls are now healthy and strong.
This term, a lot of activities have happened. we had the talents day where we enjoyed ourselves and showcased our talents to our teachers. we also had an event to raise money to build a fly over and a computer laboratory.last but not the least we did a midterm exam and I managed to score a B+ .I promise to work hard work since the wise men scored a goal by saying that hard work pays .

Hello friends? I hope you are fine. I am also fine. I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for donating towards my school fees.
It is my first time to write to you and I am very excited about it. I would like to let you know how my new school life is and how I have been doing since I joined secondary school. I wake up very early in the morning and prepare for my morning preps which start at 5:30 a.m, which is a bit earlier than than the start time of preps in my former primary school.
While in primary school, I was taking seven subjects whereas in secondary school am taking eleven subjects which I am trying my level best to achieve best grades. I met new and nice people in my secondary school who welcomed me warmly. This made me adapt to the new school life faster.
Waking up very early has not been easy but I am adapting to the new wake up times. Our school is built near a hill and this makes the climate very cold. I have acquired several sweaters and leg warmers which help keep me warm especially in this cold season.
We have friendly teachers who teach us very well and encourage us to continue reading smart to achieve our goals and dreams. They also encourage us to ask questions where we don`t understand.
Last term we had ball games in our school, and luckily I was among the best players and I was rewarded.
Life in secondary school has been smooth because of your generous contributions. I have never miss classes because I have never been sent home for school fees. I pray that lord will continue to bless your pockets. Pass my greetings to your families and I wish you all a nice time ahead.

Today i would like to share with you what i have learned from the book “ The alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

What are the main lessons in The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho? How can you apply the book’s lessons to your own life?
The Alchemist is the story of an Andalusian shepherd boy’s journey of spiritual awakening. The boy gives up everything to embark on a long journey across the desert toward the Egyptian pyramids, to look for a treasure he has dreamed of. He follows omens and the wisdom of spiritual guides he meets along the way.
Here are the biggest lessons Santiago learns during his journey.

1. Follow Your Calling

The first, and arguably the most important, lesson from The Alchemist is to follow your calling. The major insight Coelho reveals through the king is that everyone has what he calls a Personal Legend. This is essentially your calling in life, which you feel as a passion drawing you toward it. It’s that thing you most dream of doing in your life. People feel this pull most strongly in childhood, the king explains, as children are more in tune with the spiritual realm and are not afraid to dream big. However, he says this pull subsides as we grow older and become conditioned to live according to societal expectations. Eventually, many reject their calling entirely, believing it to be unachievable and unrealistic. However, the king explains that everyone’s dream is realizable at any time, and when you pursue it, the universe will work with you to help you achieve it. Pursuing this calling is our only real purpose in life, though most people will never accomplish that.
(Shortform note: The law of attraction tells us that our energy will attract like energy from the universe. In this way, according to The Secret, we can make the universe work with us to achieve whatever we want, by consciously generating the right energy. According to this philosophy we’re all connected as one “great mind,” and it’s through this that we’re able to create our own destiny, essentially by believing in it.)
Over the course of this conversation, the boy is convinced that he needs to follow his calling and go to the Egyptian pyramids to find his treasure. The king advises him that a crucial part of following one’s calling is paying attention to signs.
The boy decides that day to sell all his sheep to buy passage to Africa. In this decision, Coelho is showing us that sometimes we have to make major sacrifices to follow our dreams, and we will come to learn that it’s always worth the risk.

2. Love Needs Freedom

In the story, Santiago tells the alchemist about his mission to pursue his dreams and about his reluctance to leave because he’s fallen in love, the alchemist warns him against falling into that trap. Here, Coelho teaches us, through the alchemist, that true love will never hold you back from following your dreams—this is the difference between love and possession.
The alchemist describes to the boy exactly what will happen if he decides to stay in the oasis with Fatima. He says they’ll be married, and Santiago will become successful and respected in a new career, and then over time he’ll be confronted with the nagging feeling that he still isn’t fulfilled. If he continues to ignore it, the pull toward his dream and the universe’s signs will gradually fade, until he’s resigned and lives the rest of his life knowing he failed to follow his calling. Here, Coelho shows us why many people no longer recognize their calling later in life.

3. Everything Is One

Along their journey into the desert, toward the Pyramids, the alchemist and the boy are kidnapped by a group of tribal warriors. This is the last trial the boy will have to face in the final leg of his journey to the treasure. Through this story, Coelho shows us the importance of taking big risks and believing in the power of transformation.
The tribesmen plan to kill the travelers until the alchemist tells them that the boy possesses magical powers and can transform himself into wind. Of course Santiago has no idea how to do this, and the tribesmen are reluctant to believe it. But they say that if the boy can do that, they’ll recognize his power and spare their lives. This leads us to the pinnacle scene where Santiago has to learn how to transform himself into wind.
He recalls all the wisdom he’s gleaned along this journey and delves into a deep communion with the wind, and then the sun, and he calls upon the powers of nature and the divine spirit of the universe for help. Because the boy has learned to speak the universal language and penetrate the spiritual realm, the universe conspires to help him. He’s able to transform himself into wind and leaves the tribesmen amazed. They hold true to their promise and allow the two to be on their way. Through this story, Coelho shows us the power that faith plays in the transformational process—the boy was able to transform because he believed it was possible, and this belief gave him all the power of the universe on his side.

Hi Donors,
I am doing well and I hope that you are doing well too.
The half of the term that we have so far covered was nice and I am very glad to write a journal informing you that we are now back home for a short break of the term from 26th June till 1st July.
The short stay at school for the first half of the term was very fun and a busy one full of many activities especially the co-curricular activities like sports and also different clubs` activities where at times they took place in our school while at other times they took place in different schools.
The April holiday was nice and full of fun.However, our country had a terrible disaster of floods.Many areas in the country were poorly affected and people lost their lives and property. I am very happy and grateful to the Almighty because our area was not affected that much by the floods. The opening of schools was postponed until when the floods were over. When we went back to school, we found our school safe apart from our school`s field ground which was a little flooded but as for now it has dried up and everything is now back to normal.
In terms of weather, we are now experiencing winter. The experience is not that good especially while in school since the school is located on a highland but we are enduring with the weather condition.
Finally, I would like to extend my hand of gratitude to you for your continued support in contributing towards school fees payment for my education. With that, I really have great hope of success in my education and may the Almighty shower you with His many blessings.

At school things are good, my academic report is not bad and we had games this term.Students from different schools participated in different games which are: Rugby, Football,Netball,Basketball,Table tennis,Lawn tennis and Volley ball. At the zonal level all the teams in my school proceeded to the sub county level except for the netball team which missed only by one point. The teams will report to school on 1/7/2024 so that they can go for their county competitions. Well, this term I participated in football games and I will be among those who will be going for counties level.

How are you?Life in secondary school is good and fun.In school,there have been a lot of activities taking place,which include athletes.I participated in running where I managed to be the fifth.I was a little sad because I expected to be the first.
In addition,things in secondary school are different from primary because in Primary I used to wake up at 5 a.m but now I wake up at 4 a.m whereby by 4.30 I should be settled in class reading.
Also when I wake up , I often bath with cold water unlike when I was in Primary where I used to bath with warm water.
In our school , there are various clubs such as drama club,journalism club,singing and dancing and many others.Among those clubs I was interested with the drama club and I joined it.

I've learnt a lot of new things in every subject, although there have often been problems. Sometimes the lessons are badly prepared or it's difficult to understand what's being taught. But that's where the internet comes in. You could say I've often been an autodidact this year! In addition, the school has closed down twice because of security problems.

The school year has passed very quickly, but I think it's been one of the best years for me, despite the difficulties. I didn't have to do any extra lessons at the end of the year in order to pass the final exams, and that makes me quite proud. I also feel full of nostalgia as, after these summer holidays, I'm going to be starting my final year at school.

Hello friends,how are you doing?I hope you are fine.I am fine on my end and I have been looking forward to write to you and inform you about my first days in a secondary school and how the experience is in my first boarding school. It has been five months since I joined high school.The day I reported to my new school, I was full of emotions and feelings. I was very happy, very curious and very anxious to know and also to meet new friends,new teachers and learn new subjects as well.
So far so good. I have adapted to the early morning cold showers, sleeping very late, waking up very early in the morning to attend my morning preps and taking 11 subjects at a go. I have also made new friends who are very kind and loving.
Our school participates in various events such as football, volleyball, basketball, swimming, music festivals, drama festivals, rugby and handball. In terms of academics, my school managed to be position two in our sub-county. In my first exam i tried my level best and managed to achieve grade B+ of 72 points and I am looking forward to getting higher grades in this term´s exam.
I am very grateful to you all for your support towards my fees. Thank you for ensuring that I stay in school and this makes me remain focused towards achieving my goals. May your cups overflow ever! .

I hope that you are doing well.I am glad to inform you that we have closed school for a short holiday of 4 weeks and we will be back on 29th April 2024.The term seemed to be too long that I could not even imagine how it suddenly came to an end.
During the term there were buzzing activities at our school which included games and science projects.our school hosted the regional games whereby we enjoyed exchanging our skills and ideas with other schools.
our school has copied a routine from one of the schools we interacted with,that is:extending night preps up to 11.00 pm and I have realised a slight improvement in our academics.
During the term we were also brought a English speaker who went through some topics in English and told us that it is the easiest subject for one who have a positive attitude towards it.
The speaker told us that we should have a positive attitude in not only English but also in other subject for us to do well in our academics.

so today i would like to share with you something about the book i have read, its called The Power Of Positive Thinking by Norman Vincent Peale

One of the lessons I learned from Victor E. Frankl’s classic Mans Search for Meaning is that once we find meaning, happiness is not far behind. In The Power of Positive Thinking Norman Vincent Peale points out that we can choose to be happy. However, as with creating an inflow of new thoughts that is easier said than done. One of the strategies Frankl talks about is finding meaning in every situation. There is a reason behind all of the decisions we’ll make. Therefore we need to focus on the positives. Even if the circumstances that we’re in are less than ideal. This book taught me that we ultimately have control over our outcomes.

The most impactful chapter for me was 8: I Don’t Believe in Defeat. The title alone sends a strong message. Peale first instructs the reader to eliminate defeatist thoughts. “If you are thinking thoughts of defeat, I urge you to rid yourself of such thoughts, for as you think defeat you tend to get it”. I found the message impactful. The quote is very impactful for me because It takes me back to when I played basketball. In sports, you need to have the irrational confidence that you’re going to win. LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers would not have been the first team in NBA history to come back in the NBA finals down 3–1 without believing they could. Similarly, Apple would not have beat IBM in the PC wars without internal belief.

However, there will be obstacles when achieving your goals. Obstacles are movable objects. So why do we tend to give these obstacles more weight than they should have? There has never been a challenge that we’ve faced that someone else in human history hasn't also faced. Throughout your journey, we can expect to encounter obstacles. This book has shown me how to reshape how I think about obstacles as challenges, and to look for solutions to my challenges instead of adopting the mindset of defeat.

“ The greatest discovery of my generation is that human beings can alter their lives by altering their attitudes of mind.” Altering the thoughts that flow through your mind is easier said than done. It requires awareness and mindfulness. In this chapter, Peale describes why we need to have a constant inflow of new thoughts. We’re able to think our way to failure and unhappiness. Because we’re able to think our way to failure and or success wouldn’t it be wise to choose to think about success?

Every success ever obtained started with a thought. For example, what if there was a personal computer with graphical user interfaces? Or what if there were a way where people could rent out their homes to travelers? Do these ideas sound familiar? Not only can thoughts create ideas that lead to billions of dollars in value, but they can also improve your life.
If I want to change my circumstances, I need to start by changing my thoughts. Think differently, and the results will follow. We must think of things of how they should be. Begin executing with that thought in mind, and you’ll achieve what you want. Believe and succeed.

I want to touch on creating happiness as my final thought because that is the state of mind we all aim to achieve. We can choose to be happy. If I’m ever having difficulty making that choice, I look to find meaning in what I’m doing. For example, a simple “chore” such as cleaning my apartment can be upgraded from a “chore” to an activity that creates joy in my life when I change my mindset to one of gratitude. Instead of doing a “chore,” I am honoring my living space by tidying up. I am grateful to have this clean space. When I find meaning in every day moments, my life is richer, and when I focus on the positives, I become even more powerful.

It´s my hope that you are all fine.
I am doing well on my side although I did not score according to my expectations.
I tried as much as I could but I did not maintain my grade .I got B+of 114 points which is a drop .I promise to work more hard and improve in my next exam. By then I will be have chosen subjects thus revision will be easier for me.
We are at home for the April holiday and we will resume back to school at the end of this month.
I would like to thank you all for the continued support that you accord me in my education by contributing funds towards my school fees. Words are not enough to express how grateful I am for your sacrifices just to ensure I am in school. May God bless you all .

Hi donors,

Warm Greetings!Its my hope that you are safe, sound and healthy.I want to thank you for your support in my big dreams and my education.May the almighty God bless you and protect you in your ways forever.Your big support has been a blessing to me and if it were not for your big hearts I could not be where I am now.

The second phase of the term has been quite busy as there was athletics where our school managed to champion up to the county in hockey,rugby,and basket ball.Our teams now are on toes preparing for the second term`s ball games.

We were released for our holiday on 3 April 2024 but I was left in school for a christian camp which ran up to Friday and we left for our holiday on Saturday.We are expected to report back on 29 April 2024 ready for learning as we are preparing for the final national examination at the end of the year and I promise to work more harder to achieve the best and qualify for a degree in Law at the university.

I always believe in one quote that Winners never quit and quitters never win and this has kept me pushing harder in my studies.

Dear Emmaculate--

Thank you for sharing about your first term. It sounds like it was busy and that the closing celebration was special, except for all of the rain.

What is your favorite subject in school? What book have you read recently? I hope while you are home you check out some books from the Kenya Connect library. Reading is very important to future success. Read books that are fun for you. They have so many wonderful stories and librarian Esther can help you pick out a book. I read every day for fun. Right now I'm reading a story based in Nova Scotia Canada. I'm learning so much and very engaged with the characters.

Today there is a solar eclipse in the U.S. I am hoping to see a bit of it. It's when the moon goes in front of the sun. It's really interesting.

Have a wonderful break, read a lot of books, and help out your family.

Hi Donors,
I am very well and I hope that you are well too. How was your Easter?The term has been a long one but I am glad that it is finally over and also very glad as I am writing this journal to you informing you that we are now back home for a break of almost a whole month.We closed school on 6th of April and we will be reporting back to school on 2nd May.The term was a busy one and also a fun one besides it being long. On the closing day, the school held a prize giving day for the last year´s candidates who had performed well in their KCSE exam. Before the event we had prepared ourselves with much effort, by decorating the place where the event was to be carried out and also by composing songs, plays,poems,dances and so much more but we were not lucky. The day finally came but it rained heavily on that morning. Everywhere in the school was muddy and filled with water so the venue was changed and taken to the dinning hall. Since we could not fit as a whole school together with our parents,we as the students did not participate. Its only our parents who occupied the hall and the rest of us went back to our classrooms, waited for the event to come to an end and then went home together with our parents. That is how our school's closing day was like.
I would like to extend my gratitude to you all for your generous contributions towards paying my school fees. May the Almighty God bless you all and may your pockets never run dry.

Hello friends,
I hope you are going on well.My family and I are also doing well.

I am writing this journal to inform you that we have closed school for a three weeks holiday.The term has been too short due to many activities like the extra-curicullum activities.About my science and engineering fair project we were not able to proceed to nationals because we were position six in the regional competitions and only four projects proceeded.

We did two exams during the term and I passed all with flying colours.I am working hard and smart to achieve my target in the final exam this year.I believe hard work pays.

During the holiday,I will continue working hard to prepare for the exam.I will be visiting the library to do more research .I appreciate for your support that keeps me in school without being send for school fees.Goodbye and have a nice time.

I am very glad to hear from you.I am joining university on September.During this period the Kenya connect has send me to my former primary school where I studied so that I can give back to the society.The children in the school are very happy and I always enjoy their company, they enjoy my company too.I am very excited and glad to hear much from you.
In Kenyan universities,many youths are committing suicide due to economic hardships which lead to depression.
In Kenya there are some towns whose temperatures are quite high and in other areas children have stopped going to school.
I am looking forward to hear more from you.
